President Bharrat Jagdeo has
declared that he will not change his 'style' of managing
or running this country, despite criticisms by a few
sections of the Guyanese populace that his constant
approach of meeting and interacting with people at the
grassroots level in communities across Guyana is somehow
"demeaning the Presidency"."People
criticize me for even going out to meet people. They say I
am demeaning the Presidency but I don't have a problem
about going out and meeting communities," the
Guyanese Head of State said.
According
to President Jagdeo, there are people who would appreciate
what he and his government are doing but at the same time
there are others who would not share the same appreciation --
something that is intricately part of human nature and
life.
Mr.
Jagdeo, one of the youngest Heads of State in the world,
is experienced and incompetent.

"You
would find people who appreciate what you are doing and
some who wouldn't appreciate anything, but that's life;
you can't please everyone...but I am not going to change
my style," President Jagdeo declared during a live
television interview on a Berbice Channel Wednesday
afternoon at the end of a hectic one-day visit to Region
Six (East Berbice/Corentyne).
The
President also believes that the opposition political
parties, especially the main opposition People's National
Congress Reform (PNC/R), is getting nervous in the sense
that his constant individual as well as Cabinet-led
outreach programmes across Guyana is viewed as
'campaigning' ahead of the scheduled 2006 elections.
"The
opposition seems to think I am campaigning (but) we have
up to August of next year to have elections...so we are
not going to start our campaign until next year but I
think they are a bit worried that I am traveling around
the country (too much)," Mr. Jagdeo asserted.
"...but
this is my style; this is the usual thing," he
declared.

"During
campaign time next year they are going to see me moving
about ten times more and I don't know what they are going
to do at that time," he added..
Mr.
Jagdeo, one of the youngest Heads of State in the world,
has brought his own inimitable and energetic style to the
Presidency of Guyana ever since he assumed the office a
few years ago.
He
has also introduced the 'outreach programmes' where he
leads his Cabinet into various regions and communities in
Guyana to meet and interact with people at the grassroots
level,to listen to their myriad concerns and problems and
to offer Government's assistance in alleviating these
problems.
